La Policía Local de Onil ha creado una unidad canina que se encargará de realizar controles preventivos para detectar droga y también participará en una campaña informativa que se desarrolla en los centros educativos para evitar que los menores consuman este tipo de sustancias.

El Palacio Marqués de Dos Aguas fue el escenario donde ayer se presentó la unidad canina de la Policía Local de Onil. Es un proyecto que, según explicaron, echó a andar hace un tiempo y ahora es una realidad. Antonio Palazón, jefe de la Policía Local de Onil, explicó que la motivación que les ha llevado a crear este equipo especial es «paliar la problemática del consumo de drogas», especialmente, entre los menores de edad. Y para ello, van a «trabajar y potenciar» una campaña educativa para «evitar esta problemática». De ahí que a partir de ahora, en las charlas que van a desarrollar en el instituto y en los colegios también irán con la perra que integra la unidad, que se llama Neus y es un pastor alemán. Asimismo, realizarán «controles preventivos en los parques, jardines, institutos, colegios y a la entrada y salida de la población» y «también haremos controles aplicando sanciones», explicó Palazón. Todo con el objetivo de «evitar el consumo de drogas en menores».

Juan Antonio Aráez es el agente de la Policía Local de Onil que ha adiestrado a la perra durante los últimos meses. «Empecé con ella cuando tenía tres meses y ahora tiene casi un año». Durante este tiempo, y gracias a la estrecha colaboración con la unidad canina de la Policía Local de Alicante y a la asistencia a diversos cursos, el agente y la perra han estado realizando prácticas y entrenamientos. En suma, adiestrar al animal para que rastree dentro de vehículos, mochilas o en el interior de viviendas en busca de droga. Precisamente, algunos de estos ejercicios se desarrollaron en la exhibición que protagonizó la perra.

El alcalde, José Ramón Francés, tuvo palabras de agradecimiento para la Policía Local de Alicante que estuvo «educando» de «manera desinteresada» y anunció la puesta en marcha de esta unidad canina «que incorporamos a la Policía» y que está para «mantener la seguridad» en esta localidad. Por su parte, José Miguel Sanjuán, edil de Policía, quiso «dar las gracias a la unidad canina» y dijo sentirse «muy orgulloso de tener a la Policía Local que tenemos en Onil».

La imagen que pueden visualizar pertenece a uno de los torreones del “Palacio-Fortaleza del Marqués de Dos Aguas” en dicho torreón se aprecia una gárgola siendo esta la única que se ha mantenido entera en todo el edificio.

También se puede observar que los torreones de igual construcción con los que cuenta el Palacio están provistos de aspilleras en alto y otras apaisadas como elementos de importancia para la defensa de la fortaleza.

Esta torre alberga otra curiosidad que próximamente rebelaremos.
